About the event
***Note: Due to bad weather, this event has been postponed to Saturday, 27.07.24***
Join us for this astrophotography meetup for the Sony Alpha WA Facebook group! For this astro meetup, we'll be heading up to the Lancelin Sand Dunes to watch the Milky Way rise to the east over the dunes!
Typically we shoot for 2-3 hours when doing astrophotgraphy and some hot drinks and snacks will be provided. You may wish to bring extra warm clothes, additional snacks or a place to sit! Also note that if it is a windy evening, sand WILL get everywhere.
Some Sony equipment will be available to borrow, but please let Andrew know well in advance if there is something in particular you would like to try!
Meetup Details
We will be meeting at the entrance to the dunes, near to the sandboard hire area, before making our way to the sandboarding dunes 400m north of the entrance to the dunes. If you have not visited the dunes before, please do not drive into the dunes (even if you are an experienced 4x4 driver!) and refer to the map below.
For experienced 4x4 drivers who have knowledge of the dunes, you may wish to drive into the dunes and park at the base of the dunes next to the sandboarding sign.
All Sony WA shooters are welcome to join. Guests and non-Sony shooters are welcome too, but please have them register their attendance through Sony Scene. This is a social event designed to meet new people, catch up with friends and chat all things photography and although Andrew will be available to answer questions, this isn't an in-depth astrophotography workshop.
