Join me on a 2 day photo tour of the Blue Mountains accommodation included

About the event

Join Jay over two days as he guides you around the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area helping you develop your Landscape Photopgraphy Skills and Post Processing Techniques while capturing the captivating beauty of this superlative natural landscape.

Ideal for all experience levels. This tour takes you to majestic lookouts with sublime sunrise and sunset views. You'll descend deep into fern and moss lined gullys to get up close and personal to some of the most stunning waterfalls and visit deep water filled canyons to capture blazing sunbeams. Learn about the forgotten industrial heritage of the Blue Mountains and gaze at the stars in the darkest skies to capture some Astro images.

Arriving the night before, we will check you into your rooms at our AirBnB-style accommodation and go through some introductions, safety discussions and equipment preparation before retiring, ready to rise for our first sunrise the following day.

You will be driven from our Katoomba accommodation to each location in our 4WD tour vehicle, and safely guided through the landscape across bush tracks. We'll provide expert tuition on location to help you get the best out of your camera. We'll cover important safety considerations of outdoor and wilderness photography, discuss the best equipment and which settings to choose for various times of day, tutor you on filters and long exposure techniques, and guide you through how composition can dramatically improve your images.

There is no better way to experience the splendour of the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains, and this tour has something for everyone. Even non-photographers will see parts of this magical area in a different light, with your tour guide providing plenty of interpretation of the mountains natural values.

Fitness Requirements - You should be of good fitness and mobility to attend this tour. We will be traversing a number of Blue Mountains National Park bushwalks involving clambering up and down steep staircases and over varied rocky and muddy terrain.

Getting There - We recommend arriving the night before your tour commences. Your accommodation will be included. From Sydney, you can get to Katoomba by train from Sydney Central Station. Trains depart hourly throughout the day and take approximately 2 hours. Once you arrive at Katoomba station, I will be there to meet you. If arriving on the first day of your tour, the first train does not arrive until after 6:30AM, so you will need to drive. If driving from Sydney, the journey takes apprximately 2 hours along the M4 and Great Western HIghway. We will provide directions to you in the week prior to the tour commencing.

Meals - Meals are not included in your tour cost. Each day we will stop for breakfast, lunch and dinner at a number of outlets, cafes or restaurants around Katoomba, Leura and Blackheath. You are also welcome to bring your own food, or buy locally when you arrive and use our kitchen or BBQ to prepare meals. Katoomba has an array of grocery options including an Organic Co-Op, and Woolworths or Coles supermarkets. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please be sure to let us know before you arrive so we can ensure café choices will be able to cater for you.

Accommodation - Booking a multi-day tour means we provide you with your accommodation in one of our AirBnB style rooms at our Katoomba Residence. With a selection of a Double Room (Double Bed) or Shared Single (2 x King Single Beds) and a shared bathroom. Linen and towels are provided. Our home has a peaceful outlook overlooking a local park from a balcony, and has a fully equipped kitchen, gas BBQ and comfortable living area/studio where we can go through post processing of your images throughout your stay.

Although your tour does not commence until 5:00AM on Friday 3rd April, you are welcome to arrive the night before on Friday 20th to save you the early travel or expense of a hotel for the extra night.
