
About the event
This workshop is designed for budding photographers who are passionate about motorbikes and want to learn how to capture stunning images of their beloved two-wheeled machines. Whether you're a beginner or have some photography experience, this workshop will provide you with the necessary skills and techniques to create captivating images that showcase the beauty of your motorbike.
Itinerary:
After a brief introduction Craig will first go through the ideal photography gear, as well as the safest way to carry it with you on your bike.
- Move to the shooting location
- Camera settings and techniques required for capturing non moving subjects
- Lens selection / focal length
- Techniques for utilising natural light
- Composition
- Individually the group will move off to begin capturing their own bike (within walking distance of everyone else)
- Time permitting the group may go for a short ride and find a different shooting location
- Finish off with a ride to a local cafe/McDonalds and review some of the participants images
- Basic understanding of your camera's functionality and controls is recommended.
- Participants should have access to a motorbike that they can bring to the workshop for practical exercises. If you are unable to bring your bike feel free to come along and take photos of other bikes present at the workshop.
Note: Participants are encouraged to bring their existing motorbike photographs for discussion and critique, as well as any additional equipment they may want to use or learn about during the workshop.
By the end of this workshop, participants will have gained the necessary skills and knowledge to confidently capture stunning images of their motorbikes, showcasing the essence and excitement of their passion on camera.

Techniques covered
- Understanding the basics of photography: We will cover essential concepts such as exposure, composition, lighting, and perspective to help you create visually striking images.
- Mastering camera settings: Learn to maximise the capabilities of your camera by exploring various settings such as aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, and how they influence the final result of your photographs.
- Composition and framing: Discover the art of composing compelling images by exploring different techniques like the rule of thirds, leading lines, and framing to enhance the overall aesthetics and impact of your motorbike photos.
- Scouting for locations
- How to take photos of yourself with your bike.
What to bring
- Participants should have a digital camera (DSLR, mirrorless, or advanced compact cameras) with manual settings. It is preferable to have a lens suitable for capturing a variety of shots, such as a zoom lens.
- Tripod (not compulsory) Host will have a tripod that can be shared.
- Remote shutter release (not compulsory)
