Point Chev Meetup & Photo Walk

Casual meetup and walkabout at Point Chevalier Beach in Auckland

About the event

Join Sony Digital Imaging Ambassador Tom Ang at Point Chev Beach for an informal walkabout and coffee.

Bring yourself, camera gear and togs (if brave) for a relaxed afternoon of photography and chat. It's been over a year since the last Point Chev photo walk, so it's time to revisit this gorgeous spot. There's plenty to explore and photograph at the beach and in the small reserve.

We'll meet at the mid level picnic tables towards the northern end of the beach.

Schedule: Meet at 1pm, walkabout until 3pm. Coffee at Point Chev Beach Cafe a short walk away until they kick us out at 4pm.

Free, no ticket required - just turn up!

Techniques covered

  • Ask Tom for help on any aspect of photography during the walkabout.
  • The location offers landscape, beach, sea views and portrait opportunities.
  • Use it as an opportunity to try out something you've never done before!

What to bring

  • Warm clothes and be prepared for rain. If there's a westerly, the beach will feel quite exposed.
  • Any favourite camera and lenses.
  • If you fancy a chilly swim, bring togs. There's a changing room on the reserve by the beach.
