About the event
Join me on Saturday, June the 8th, for a photowalk designed to create entries for Sony Auckland Photo Day.
We'll begin with a relaxed briefing and Q&A session at Ponsonby Food Court. This will be followed by a photowalk around Ponsonby Central and Western Park. You'll have many scenes to photograph – from stall-holders to the busy street and café life, from the photogenic Western Park to numerous shop fronts with their windows, reflections and shoppers.
Topics to explore include:
- How to photograph strangers
- Street photography techniques
- Working in black-and-white
The Ponsonby Food Court opens at 11am. We'll meet there at 11:30am for a briefing (in the part of the dining hall next to Pollen Street).
I will then lead a small group for about 45 minutes on a round trip to Ponsonby Central, Western Park and back. Those who wish to explore by themselves are of course free to do so. Depending on numbers, I can lead another group on the same circuit.
At 1:30pm we'll regroup in the Ponsonby Food Court for a review of photos and experience.
After lunch you can check out nearby Karangahape (K) Road and its own lively vibe.
These events usually book out quickly. Reserve your spot now to avoid missing out!
Note: This year's Auckland Photo Day is sponsored by Sony NZ. You can enter photos made any time in the 24 hours of 8 June into the Auckland Photo Day competition and they will become part of a documentary archive for the city. It's free to enter, and you could win some excellent and valuable prizes - including an Alpha 6700 mirrorless camera and E 16-55mm F2.8 G lens worth over $5,000!
