About the event

Portraits After Dark: Auckland CBD Portrait Photo Walk

A Model Shoot Experience at Night

Join us for an evening portrait photo walk through Auckland CBD, with a professional model available for attendees to photograph.

This is not a workshop or formal photography class. The focus is on giving you the opportunity to work with a model, experiment with night portrait photography and create your own images in a relaxed group environment.

We’ll be working with available and existing light around the city, think street lights, shop windows, signage and other ambient light sources. This is not a flash photography workshop, and no flash equipment will be provided or required.

I’ll be there to organise the shoot, manage the locations and occasionally direct the model to help create opportunities for everyone.

You’re responsible for your own camera settings and photography. Come along, experiment and see what you can create.

What to Expect

  • Professional model provided for the session
  • Portrait photography around Auckland CBD after dark
  • Multiple locations and backgrounds
  • Available and ambient light
  • Opportunities to experiment with different light sources around the city
  • Opportunities to photograph the model individually and in small groups
  • Some direction of the model throughout the evening
  • Time to experiment with different portrait styles and compositions
  • Meet and shoot alongside other photographers

Who Is It For?

This event is suited to photographers with a basic understanding of their camera who want to experiment with portrait photography and working with a model.

You don't need to be an experienced portrait photographer — just bring your camera and be ready to shoot.

What to Bring

  • Camera
  • Fast portrait lens or lenses of your choice
  • Fully charged batteries
  • Plenty of memory-card space
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing

Limited to 10 Photographers

To keep the group small and ensure everyone gets plenty of opportunities to photograph the model, only 10 photographer spots are available.

Important

This is a model shoot and portrait photo walk, not a photography workshop. There will be no formal teaching or camera instruction.

The session will focus on available/ambient light rather than flash photography, giving you the opportunity to experiment with the unique lighting found around Auckland CBD at night.

Cancellation and refunds

Please note that a model has been booked specifically for this session, so places are limited and cancellations can impact the event.

As stated in the Sony Scene Terms & Conditions, cancellations 7 days or more before the event will receive a full refund.

Cancellations within 7 days are generally non-refundable, however, if your place can be filled by another attendee, a refund or credit towards a future event may be offered.

If the event is cancelled by me all attendees will receive a full refund.
