Explore Muriwai Beach through golden hour & sunset.

About the event

Join me and fellow creatives for a relaxed evening at Muriwai Beach, one of Auckland’s most scenic spots for sunset photography.

We’ll meet up, have a quick chat about the best locations and some useful camera settings for sunset photography, then head out to explore and capture the beach, surf, cliffs, birdlife and changing light as the sun goes down.

This is a great opportunity to get out, meet other photographers and creatives, and experiment with different ways of capturing the same environment as the light changes.

Itinerary

6:30 PMMeet at Muriwai Beach Scenic Carpark

6:30–6:45 PM Introduction & Briefing

We’ll meet the group, go over the plan for the evening and talk through some tips for getting the most out of golden-hour and sunset light.

6:45 PM onwards — Photo Walk
We'll explore Muriwai Beach and nearby areas, looking for different compositions and opportunities to capture the coastline, waves, birdlife and sunset.

We'll stay out as the light changes, making the most of golden hour and the colours that follow as the sun goes down.

Optional Editing Session — Sunday 18 October
Join me online the following day for a relaxed editing session using some of the images captured at Muriwai. We'll look at selecting your strongest shots and developing them into finished images.

Please Note

This is a casual and social photo walk, rather than a formal photography workshop. There won't be structured one-on-one instruction, but I'll be around throughout the session to share ideas, answer questions and help where I can.

You don't need a Sony camera to attend. Bring whatever camera you're comfortable using — even your phone is welcome.

Please wear comfortable footwear and bring weather-appropriate clothing, as we'll be outdoors for the duration of the event.

Please make sure you register using an active email address, as I'll be sending out event updates and any important information closer to the date.
