Shoot WAYO at the Perth Concert Hall
Andrew Clarke
A unique chance to shoot the WA Youth Orchestra at the Perth Concert Hall

About the event

Calling all Perth commercial/event photographers!

This is a rare opportunity to shoot inside one of Australia's best (and most photogenic) music venues, the iconic Perth Concert Hall, guided by the photography partner of the Western Australian Youth Orchestra (WAYO) and Sony Digital Imaging Advocate Andrew J Clarke. We will be shooting WAYO's rehearsal and performance and covering all aspects of commercial event photography during the workshop: from customising your camera for shooting efficiency, to capturing action in lowlight/high Dynamic range environments, to post-processing and export settings (see below for a complete list of techniques covered).

This workshop is perfect for:

  • Aspiring commercial/event photographers looking to up their skills.
  • Established professionals wanting to add to their portfolio with a unique shooting opportunity.
  • Intermediate level hobbyists keen to try something a bit different and challenge themselves.

Programme

9:30am - arrive at the Perth Concert Hall (St Georges Terrace side)

9:30am-10:15am - initial briefing with Andrew, including camera customisation

10:15am-11:15am - first shooting block (upper gallery)

11:15am-11:30am (approx.) - mid-morning break

11:30am-12:30pm - second shooting block (stalls / side of stage)

12:30pm - wrap up and de-brief

Post event - Andrew will provide a short video to attendees covering file handing, post-processing and export settings for commercial work.

Important additional information:

  • Due to Covid restrictions, at this stage there is unlikely to be an audience in the PCH for either session (this will however make movement around the hall much easier).
  • While this workshop is not restricted to Sony Alpha users, your camera must have an effective silent shooting mode for this event.
  • Some members of WAYO are under the age of 18 and as such participants will require approval from WAYO to use any images from the workshop that contain a recognisable face (Andrew will facilitate the approval).
  • Images obtained at the workshop cannot be used for commercial purposes, but can be used for social media sharing and your portfolio.

Andrew was very informative and helpful. He was interested in customising my camera to the sorts of photos I shoot and took the time to show me. Thanks”
