Plan, Direct, Shoot and Edit a Short Film in 6 Hours

About the event

This event is proudly presented by EP Group in partnership with Sony Australia and Camera House Croydon.

Sony 6 Hour Film Challenge at Sony Cinema Line House (VIC).

Fire up your creative potential. In teams of 1-4 people, plan, direct, shoot and edit a short film within 6 hours all on site at Sony Cinema Line House. 

Under strict guidelines, you will be provided with a Sony FX3 or FX30, as well as a selection of Sony lenses. Actors and lighting will also be available on site. *Please note that you may be allocated a set time with actors and spaces in the venue, subject to availability, and they may not be available to you for the whole period. OHS and safety guidelines will be in place.

Expert instruction and support is available from Sony Digital Imaging Advocate, Eric Peng and the Sony team.

You will have 6 hours to create a stunning short film. The winner? Receive a mystery prize from Sony.

Join us in the heart of regional Victoria, surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, for an immersive introduction to video workshop designed specifically for intermediate video shooters and emerging film makers.

Stories to Create

A beautiful home nested in the forest. A lone actor on site. The sun is setting. Lighting from Nanlite. The creative opportunities are endless.

A loan Sony FX30 or FX3 will be provided to you for the workshop. Please bring your own high speed SD card (256GB V60 or higher) and video tripod. Bring your own ND filter (if you have one, 82mm recommended with step down rings).

Did you know the Sony FX3 Cinema Line camera is certified by Netflix, with technology from Sony Alpha and Sony Venice in the palm of your hand. Sony G Master lenses will also be on hand for you to try.

If you are a beginner film maker, attending the prior workshops at Sony Cinema Line House, Introduction to Video and Intermediate Video Skills - Technical Training is strongly recommended.

Expert Instruction

Led by Eric Peng, Sony Digital Imaging Advocate and Director at EP Group, this hands-on workshop will guide you through essential techniques, from camera settings to storytelling tips. Actor will be onsite and learn to direct and create your filmmaking masterpiece.

Bring your laptop and charger and do editing of your film onsite, with expert instruction and feedback available.

Recomended laptop specs: We recommend a Made to Order MacBook Pro M1 Max/M2 Max/M3 Max with 32GB+ of RAM and 2TB+ of SSD.
