About the event
Come and join Jay for a 1 day workshop exploring the Wonder of Waterfalls in the Blue Mountains, where you will be guided to the base of some of the best falls in the area and coached on capturing flowing water using long exposure techniques, filters, and composition.
To wrap up the day, we will have a 2 hour post processing session back at the Katoomba studio.
This exciting day trip not only gets you in front of some of the Blue Mountains best known falls, you will also be guided through the mesmerising scenery of ferns and eucalyptus trees, down some incredible bush tracks and deep into the gully's to locate the serene flowing waters as they tumble into the valleys below.
Proposed Itinerary:
- 7:30AM - Pickup from Katoomba Railway Station
- 8AM - Waterfalls Shoot 1 - Wentworth Falls
- 10AM - Waterfalls Shoot 2 - Leura
- 1PM - Lunch
- 2PM - Waterfalls Shoot 2 - Hazelbrook
- 5PM - Dinner & Post Processing
- 7PM - Drop off at Katoomba Railway Station
Fitness Requirements - You should be of good fitness and mobility to attend this workshop. We will be traversing a number of Blue Mountains National Park bushwalks involving several steep descents and climbs up stairs and over varied rocky and muddy terrain.
Getting There - You can get to Katoomba using Public Transport or driving yourself. If driving we will provide meeting details closer to the tour date.
Public Transport - To arrive in Katoomba in time to commence the tour, catch the 05:23 train from Central station to arrive for 07:30. Once in Katoomba, all your transport is provided. You will be dropped off at Katoomba Station in time for the 19:34 train back to Sydney Central Station.
Meals - No Meals will be provided, however we will stop for Lunch at a local outlet and buy a takeout dinner to eat while we go through our post processing session.
Accommodation - If you wish to arrive the night before, we can accommodate you in one of our comfortable AirBnB style rooms at our Katoomba home. There is a $70 per person per night fee that can be paid on arrival. Contact us for details and booking.
Jay is licensed to operate Photography tours in NSW National Parks under an Eco Pass License # LIC19/62.

- A DSLR or Mirrorless camera with Manual controls and interchangeable lenses
- Lenses suitable for Landscape photography (between 12mm & 105mm)
- Remote shutter for camera

- A small towel to cover your camera
- Warm Layered clothing suitable for hiking and appropriate for the temperature.
- Warm socks (with spares to change into if you get wet)
- Waterproof jacket
- ESSENTIAL - Sturdy Waterproof Hiking Boots as we will be walking along National Park trails and traversing the base of waterfalls
