Join me, Luke Tscharke, on an exciting 4-day, 3-night photography workshop on Bruny Island this November. I've timed this workshop to coincide with dark skies providing the added opportunity to photograph the western fall of the Milky Way. Plus, with the increased solar activity going into the solar maximum, we might even be lucky enough to witness and photograph the incredible Aurora Australis.

Having visited Bruny Island many times, I'm excited to share my favorite locations and help you discover the island's diverse landscapes. We'll explore the stunning coastlines from both land and water, including a scenic cruise that will give us unique perspectives and plenty of opportunities to create amazing images.

Throughout the workshop, we'll dive into the art of landscape and astro photography, and I'll be there to guide you every step of the way. Bruny Island is one of Tasmania's most picturesque locations, and I can't wait to help you capture its beauty.

Join me on this fantastic journey as we immerse ourselves in the world of photography, learn new techniques, and create lasting memories together. It's going to be a blast, and I look forward to sharing my passion for Bruny Island with you!

Small Group, Big Experience

This exclusive photography workshop on Bruny Island is limited to just three participants. With such a small group, you'll receive personalised attention and guidance from me throughout the entire experience. I truly believe that smaller groups create a more engaging and enjoyable learning environment, allowing me to get to know each of you better and tailor the workshop to your individual needs and goals.

To ensure your comfort and privacy, each participant will have their own queen room and ensuite during the workshop. This means you'll have a personal space to relax and recharge after a day of shooting, without compromising on comfort.

The workshop is also self-catering, giving you the freedom to choose food according to your own preferences. This flexible arrangement adds to the laid-back and easy-going atmosphere of the workshop, allowing us to focus on photography and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Bruny Island.

With a small group, we'll be able to move around the island more easily, fitting comfortably in one vehicle and simplifying logistics. This not only enhances the learning experience but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and friendship as we explore and photograph Bruny Island together.

Flexible Itinerary and Locations

One of the key advantages of this workshop is the flexible itinerary, which allows us to make the most of the prevailing weather conditions. I will use my planning tools, apps, and forecasting services to determine the best locations for each day, ensuring that we will be at the right place at the right time to capture the most stunning images possible. As part of the workshop, I will also share my planning processes with you, providing valuable insights into how to adapt and optimise your photography based on the conditions.

Accommodation

During the workshop, we'll be staying at the spectacular Cloudy Bay Villa, a unique coastal hideaway on secluded South Bruny Island. This two-story retreat offers some of the best sea views in Tasmania, with a prime vantage point over Whalebone Point. The villa's location provides us with an unobstructed view of the southern horizon, allowing for incredible opportunities to photograph the Aurora Australis or engage in astrophotography right from the property itself. If we desire a change of scenery, a short drive takes us to the pristine Cloudy Bay, an excellent location for capturing stunning landscapes. Other iconic spots like the Cape Bruny Lighthouse are also within easy reach.

Each participant will have their own comfortably appointed bedroom with a queen bed, private ensuite bathroom, and luxury linen, ensuring a cozy and relaxing stay. The villa's multiple living areas, sheltered outdoor deck, and well-equipped kitchen provide ample space for us to unwind, share meals, and review our photographs together. With its serene natural surroundings and breathtaking views, Cloudy Bay Villa is the perfect base for our Bruny Island photography adventure.

Meals

The workshop is designed to be self-catered, providing participants with the flexibility to accommodate their dietary preferences and requirements. Before we head over to Bruny Island, we'll have the opportunity to purchase groceries and stock up on provisions for our stay. The villa's well-equipped kitchen allows us to prepare our own meals, but we'll also have the chance to dine out at local pubs and eateries as the flexible itinerary allows.

Personal Capabilities and Experience Level

Whether you're a beginner looking to learn the ropes or an experienced photographer seeking to refine your skills, this workshop caters to all levels. Prior experience with night photography is beneficial but not essential. Upon booking, you'll gain access to Luke's comprehensive online photography tutorial videos, enabling you to prepare and build a strong foundation before the workshop even begins.

The shoot locations for the workshop are selected to be easily accessible, typically requiring only short walks of no more than 10 minutes. However, to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience, a basic level of fitness is recommended. Throughout the workshop, Luke will be right there beside you, offering personalised assistance and guidance while also photographing alongside you. This unique opportunity allows you to learn directly from Luke, observe his techniques, and gain invaluable insights to elevate your own photography skills.
