About the event
Join Sony Digital Imaging Advocate Jay Evans for a late-night Astromeet at the iconic Cahill’s Lookout, one of the Blue Mountains’ most breathtaking locations for astrophotography.
Perched high above the Megalong Valley and Narrow Neck Plateau, Cahill’s offers expansive west-facing views as the Milky Way arcs across the escarpment and the Galactic Core gradually dips toward the horizon. With dramatic sandstone cliffs, layered ridgelines, and dark mountain skies, this is an unforgettable location to experience the final months of Milky Way season.
This Astromeet combines practical learning, creative exploration, and hands-on night photography in a supportive group environment. Throughout the evening, we’ll cover everything from planning and camera setup through to advanced techniques such as panoramas, timelapses, star trails, and creative lighting methods using portable LEDs and phone light.
Whether you’re shooting your very first astro image or refining your nightscape workflow, this evening is designed to help you build confidence and create striking images under the stars.
