Try a range of Sony lenses in a real world shooting environment

About the event

A hands-on photography experience where you’ll test different focal lengths in real Auckland street environments and learn how each lens changes the way you see and capture your shots.

Instead of talking about photography theory, this session is all about learning by doing — shooting, moving, experimenting, and seeing your results in real time.

You’ll walk away with a clearer understanding of how different focal length affects your images and what kind of photography naturally suits your style.

What this is:

A guided urban & street photography session where you’ll shoot with different lenses in real Auckland locations.

You’ll see how they affect:

  • Composition
  • Perspective
  • Storytelling

How it works:

You’ll be split into small groups and rotate through different lenses during the session.

Each rotation includes a simple shooting challenge so you’re always actively taking photos, not waiting around.

What you’ll shoot:

Short, guided photo prompts like:

  • Street moments
  • Environmental scenes
  • Portrait-style shots
  • Wide vs tight compositions
  • Compression and detail shots

Who it’s for:

  • All levels of photographers
  • Anyone curious about different focal lengths

Follow Up Online Editing Session:

Join me the next day on Sunday the 26th to review and edit your images from the session.

We’ll go through how different lenses performed in the same conditions and discuss our photos online.

The online session link will be sent after registration
