How to tell athlete stories through motion

About the event

NSW Sony Digitial Imaging Advocate, Joanne Stephan is teaming up with Sony Australia and Camera Pro Brisbane to bring creators an exclusive, hands-on storytelling experience. This workshop gives you direct access to the latest Sony Cinema Line and Alpha gear, expert guidance, and loan equipment you won’t find anywhere else. If you’ve been wanting to shoot with the Sony FX2 and Cinema Line cameras or get your hands on the brand-new Sony A7V, this is your chance.

Shoot. Direct. Craft Emotion - Visually.
Learn to shoot a cinematic boxing narrative from start to finish using nothing but powerful visuals and the latest Sony gear.

Step inside an authentic boxing environment and learn how to build a dynamic 30-60 second athlete-driven story. You’ll work hands-on with a real boxer - capturing grit, intensity, movement, and raw emotion purely through visuals.

You’ll be guided through:
Hero Shot Building
Master the essential sequence every cinematic boxing story needs - tight close-ups, explosive wides, movement shots, and punchy cutaways.

Action + Emotion
Shoot warm-ups, mitt work, training drills, conditioning and high-energy moments while learning to express character and emotion visually.

Micro-Moments That Hit Hard
Focus on gloves, wraps, footwork, sweat, breath, repetition, and power - the details that elevate simple footage into a compelling visual narrative.

Sony Cinema Line Workflow
Watch how the Sony FX2 unlocks cinematic storytelling and fluid handheld setups.

Hands-On With Sony’s Latest Gear
Attendees will have access to loan gear, including the newest Sony A7V and the latest Sony Cinema Line tools - so you can test, shoot, and experience the gear firsthand.

This is a fully immersive, shoot-as-you-go workshop designed to level up your visual storytelling instantly and sharpen your ability to craft powerful narratives using only visuals.

Walk away with:
A polished boxing reel
Stronger framing, movement, and storytelling skills
Real-world experience shooting action
Fresh, portfolio-ready boxing content
