Sony FX2 Cinematic Challenge: Melbourne

Presented by Sony Australia

Step into the world of cinematic storytelling with the Sony FX2 Cinematic Challenge — an immersive creative experience designed to push your filmmaking vision to new heights.

Location: Saké Restaurant & Bar, Hamer Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne
Address: 100 St Kilda Road, Southbank

Event Overview

Rediscover your city after dark. The theme of this cinematic challenge is Melbourne — its rhythm, energy, and identity. You’re invited to interpret the city in your own way, creating a short film that captures the essence of Melbourne at night.

This exclusive opportunity gives you hands-on access to Sony’s FX2 Full-Frame Cinema Camera or other Cinema Line models, paired with Sony’s flagship G Master lenses — engineered for stunning optical precision and cinematic depth. All participants will be entered for the chance to win a Sony FX30 and Microphone Pack. Terms and conditions apply.

The Experience

Your evening begins at the Sony Hub inside Saké Restaurant & Bar at Hamer Hall, where you'll be welcomed into a premium creative space. During the first hour, you'll receive your camera and lens kit, plan your shoot, and get expert creative direction from leading content creator Northborders and Sony Digital Imaging Advocate Eric Peng.

Then it's over to you: a two-hour, self-led shoot where the streets of Melbourne become your personal film set. With the city illuminated by night and G Master glass in hand, you'll craft a cinematic piece that’s rich in detail, movement, and mood.
