Now in its tenth year, the Sony Alpha Awards have become the premier photography competition for Sony shooters across Australia and New Zealand, celebrating creativity, skill, and innovation through imagery captured on Sony Alpha cameras and lenses.

What’s New for 2025?

🌿 Nature Category Expanded
Nature has always been a fan favorite — and now it’s bigger than ever! In 2025, it's been divided into three exciting new categories:

• Bird Life

• Sea Life

• Wildlife

This not only adds more focused opportunities for nature photographers, but also triples the prize pool in this space. If nature photography is your passion, this is your year!

🌉 Youth Category – Theme: “Bridge”
Back again for 2025, the Youth Category (open to images taken on any camera) invites young photographers to creatively interpret the theme “Bridge.” Think literal structures, symbolic connections, or metaphorical crossings — the possibilities are endless. Eric will share ideas to help younger creatives bring this concept to life.
